I was looking in all the usual places to see what fun things were happening in the Montgomery Area in the next few weeks, and I came up dry.
Now, wait a minute. Isn't that the purpose of this post? To show all you locals that there ARE fun things that can be done in Montgomery?
Let's see...I started at the Montgomery Advertiser. There are a few new plays at ASF opening up.
1. Lettice & Lovage, by Peter Shaffer, April 9 - May 22, 2010
2. Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, April 16 - May 22, 2010
3. All's Well That Ends Well, by William Shakespeare, April 23 - May 22, 2010
Then I looked to Montgomery Parents Magazine this is such a great guide...I love all the advertising, that is how you find the fun new shops in town. Well, all they have on their calendar is the Prattville City Fest on April 30th and May 1st. Admission is $1-$2 dollars.
So I googled Montgomery, Alabama, and I arrived at Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, Convention & Visitor Bureau. Perfect! I always check out the "official" sites when I am researching vacation cities, and our site does not disappoint.
I was quite amused to see that the 2 day Family Itinerary reads like I wrote it. All the things mentioned are things that I do with out of town family when they come to visit.
Here are the "official" suggestions.
Day One
9:00 Montgomery Area Visitor Center, Union Station
10:00 Old Alabama Town
12:00 Lunch (with yummy local recommendations)
1:30 Alabama Cattlemen’s “MOOseum”
3:00 Alabama Department of Archives & History
5:00 Dinner
7:00 Riverwalk Stadium to see the Montgomery Biscuits (Baseball)
Then for Day Two...
9:00 Montgomery Zoo
10:30 Mann Wildlife Learning Museum
11:30 Lunch
12:30 ARTWORKS at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts
1:30 Shopping at the Shoppes at EastChase
2:30 Skating at the Ice Palace inside Eastdale Mall (I think its funny that they recommend both Eastchase and Eastdale Mall)
So there you have it. A weekend full of fun.
I blog here and you should drop by and see all the fun things going on in my world.

This takes me back to 1996 (I think) on a school trip to see a play at the ASF. There at the Eastdale Mall, I assume, on the ice skating rink I fall. This was not a light fall folks, my skate (TOE-PICK) got caught under me which brought the ice and my person very close together. So close in fact half of my front tooth got knocked out.
I haven't been to that mall since.
Oh my goodness~! OUCH! I cannot imagine how much that hurt!
I usually spend more time on my butt than on my feet. But I cant wait to take my little one ice skating when he gets a litle bigger.
Feel better.:)
Fabulous!
