Meet-Up Link-Up!

We met at the Irondale Cafe today, despite the uncooperative weather, and had a great time! There were nine of us in all, and the conversation was great, as was the food (of course).

If you were there today, link up here so we can all find each other!! And thanks so much for coming!

My blog covers political corruption, environmental issues and big money which make for devilish bedfellows.

There are a lot of things going on in Alabama that people should know.

Especially living in close proximity to heavy industries such as mining, cement, asphalt and lime production facilities.

These are necessary evils, but the close proximity to our schools and youngest citizens is alarming.

What kind of society are we if we do not protect our children?

Children's safety and health are very high on my list.

So is injustice.

Things have to change for Alabama's citizens and our beautiful natural resources.

I am not a "tree hugger." I am simply a person who cares about what is around us. I care about fair process.

Change starts with one concerned citizen and multiplies from there.

As I talked about if you come from a unique background in the South I'd be interested to hear it. As an example I come from a Catholic-Slovak background so I'd get homemade perogies and fresh fried okra on the same plate at my grandmothers house.

Great seeing all of you and hope to check out your blogs soon!

On a separate note, (shameless plug alert) the band I play in called Joe & the Kid will be on 33/40's Talk of Alabama on Wednesday at 9am.

It was nice to meet those of you I haven't met and as always nice to see the ones I have. I always enjoy the lunches when I'm able to make it up to Birmingham for them.

If you haven't linked up and introduced yourself yet, be sure to go here to do so!
