Blogger Spotlight: Amy of Ordinarily Extraordinary

Amy will be hosting a column every other Tuesday starting tomorrow called "Amy's Extraordinary Alabama" that will feature Alabama authors, places to see in Alabama, and stories about Alabama.

Hello! My name is Amy and I live in East Central Alabama with my wonderful husband of 12 years and our son. I am a 30 something born and bred Alabama girl. I grew up in the valleys & rolling hills of the Appalachian foothills in northeast Alabama amidst farms filled with gardens, cows and creeks. Growing up I didn’t quite appreciate the beauty of the country life, but every time I return home I realize how that picturesque area is ingrained in my being.

I was a bookworm growing up. I would have rather been curled up in the swing or rocking chair reading a book instead of running around in the heat and humidity with my sister the tomboy. Today I’m still a bookworm, but I don’t keep my nose stuck in a book and forget to appreciate the extraordinary aspects of an ordinary life.

I now live in a very small Alabama city that is more like a small town. And we love it. I’m not in the midst of my beloved foothills anymore, but I’m close enough to return once or twice a month. I live an ordinary life with my family. An ordinary life for which I am extremely thankful, but I choose to see those amazing moments that make an ordinary life extraordinary. My blog Ordinarily Extraordinary is where I share our stories and my passions – my family, crafting, photography, books, art and stories about Alabama.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for the amazing Historical Picture books of Birmingham, Huntsville, and Mobile! The giveaway ends at midnight, and the winners will be announced tomorrow afternoon.
