When Planning September, Don't Plan on Cooking This Week:

September 17th - 25th is going to be the Birmingham Foodie's dream come true.

There are two great events happening:

1. The first ever Birmingham Restaurant Week.

I'm so excited that Birmingham is getting an event like this!! It was New York City Restaurant Week when I was there a few weeks ago, and it was definitely THE exciting thing going on!

Over 50 Birmingham Restaurants will be participating in this event of deliciousness, offering signature lunch specials and three-course dinner menus for really great prices - either $10.10, $20.10, or $30.10 depending on the restaurant and specials. Check out the website and follow them on twitter for all of the participating restaurants and what they will be serving!! Two of my favorites that are participating are Nabeel's and Silvertron.

2. The Birmingham Greek Food Festival - I look forward to this weekend every year with much expectation and salivation, and usually end up eating there WAY too many times over the course of its three days (this year, September 23-25th). And this year, it's on an Alabama away football game weekend, which means I get to eat there even more!!!

The food is excellent, the Greek Dancing is oh-so-festive, and the booths and merchandise are a lot of fun.

Oh - and my husband loves those deep fried and covered with honey doughnuts, too.

More information will be available about it soon, but it's held every year at the Greek Orthodox Church downtown.

Needless to say, I'll be eating out a LOT that week.

OMG, thank you!!! I *TOTALLY* forgot about the Greek Food Festival! (not being on Southside anymore, I missed last year's. :( *cry*)

If you haven't linked up and introduced yourself yet, be sure to go here to do so!
