My name is Rachel, I live in Birmingham, and I stay busy blogging at Grasping for Objectivity in my Subjective Life. I love blogging and getting to know other bloggers by reading their blogs. However, I have discovered a major gap in blog interaction: There is no blog networking site for Alabama!
Every day I am amazed when I run into another awesome Alabama blogger - you are innumerable, and I want to know you!
So I created this site. It will have a LONG way to grow, but you have to start somewhere, right?
Here are some of the things that I hope to accomplish at Alabama Bloggers:
- First and foremost, I see this as a place for Alabama bloggers to convene, meet like-minded bloggers, find blogging friends, be entertained, and ultimately be a centralized meeting place for all of us.
- There will be local interest posts, reviews of events, and opportunities to link up your blog posts on events and places around Alabama.
- You will have the opportunity to have your blog posts featured here, or even be a recurring contributor.
- There will be local contests and giveaways. Which, of course, means that if you have a local (or non-local) product, you can donate items to be featured and given away and benefit from the amazing the win/win/win of blog advertising!
- There is "The List", which groups all Alabama Bloggers that have joined the site by cities and regions in Alabama.
- And there will definitely be blogger meet-ups and parties!
You know, one of those uncomfortable, cheesy, "go around the room and introduce yourself" moments.
I'm going to put a Mister Linky on here to link up your blog to make visiting easy, but also be sure and leave a comment on this post and tell us about who you are .
I'll start us off:
As I said, I'm Rachel of Grasping for Objectivity in my Subjective Life. I post there at least once a day, but I also put my "seconds" on a blog called B-Sides. I also have a weekly column at 5 Minutes for Parenting called A Dose of Humor.
My main goal in blogging is to document our lives (and anything else that pops into my head) in the most entertaining, and hopefully even humorous, way possible.
Besides my blogging, I am 27 years old, a wife to my wonderful husband, and mother to a precious two year old daughter, Ali. I stay at home with her, but during her naptimes, work at home for two companies - doing accounting and human resources.
So now, please introduce yourself!! Also, please feel free to share any ideas you have for this site, any participation you would like to offer, or pretty much anything else!! I will need all of your help in turning this into the community that it has potential to be!
As you add your comments and linkies, I will add you to the "The List", which is grouped by area and available on the sidebar.
Also, PLEASE spread the word! Tweet, Blog, Facebook, Digg, Stumble, Kirtsy, whatever you use, let's get the word out that there's a new place for Alabama Bloggers to hang out!!
Be sure to visit the other bloggers who have introduced themselves - there's no better way to network than to reach out!
Also, please be sure to follow by clicking the button on the left, and subscribe if you use a reader. There will be much more going on here soon!
I look forward to visiting your blogs!

Hello all! I am Christi a fellow Alabama blogger! Nice to meet ya'll!
Hi! Thanks for making this an organized place to be! I live in Indian Springs, AL and hope to meet up with more bloggers! I went to the meet up with Lisa Leonard. That's how I found this site!
Hi Everyone! I'm Elizabeth, and I live in Point Clear. I am a frugal blogger, and I am queen of all the savvy deals! I am a stay-at-home mom to two wonderful kids, age 9 and 10, and I'm wife to the most perfect man God ever made. Perfectly matched for me -- it had to be God because there's no way we'd have ended up together otherwise! Anyhow, I've been blogging for nearly a year and my journey around the blogosphere has been enlightening and fun! I'm really excited about meeting some other bloggers from this area. I hope we can meet sometime in person.
I thought I did this ages and ages ago, but I don't see my info, so I guess I didn't! Thanks for organizing, though. :)
Hi Rachel and other Alabama Bloggers-I live in Hazel Green Al. I read blogs daily and want to get better at posting on mine.I had a friend that stared me blogging and she fell by the way-I had friends that started when I did and only a few still blog regularly so I'm looking for new friends to read and share with. Hi, Rachel. I met you at the DressBarn event last week. I was with Amanda from Mommy Working for the Weekend. I just launched a new site to document my stories and adventures. Thanks for setting up such a great tool for Alabama bloggers!!
Hi everyone! I am new to blogging and am so excited to be a part of this great group! This is such a great thing to have to be able to get more connected with those other bloggers around us. I am a working mom and wife, who loves to read. I can't wait to get to know all of you!! Thank you Rachel!
I've been obsessed with how media affect us ever since the mid 1970s. OverCoffeeMedia seeks to make sense of the gut-wrenching transition that we are seeing as the print gives way to ... what? That's the question. The answers are still fuzzy.
Hello Rachel,
I'm Lynda and I live in N. Alabama, I live here with my husband Bob on the "Farmlet." I am a retired teacher who raises chickens and geese, and writes in my spare time. I hope to get published soon!
The blogging world is so vast, and yet it brings us together in the strangest ways. I met a new friend on FB, went to see her in Indiana, we both wrote about it on our blogs, which introduced me to another blogger in my own back yard! It was her blog that led me to you.
Hi! My name is Heather St. Clair. I just added my blog to your list. I love this site. I am a Group Leader with Willow House. I put a little bit of everything on my blog. I post about Willow House sales, design tips, etc. I also post about updates in my home and personal life. Check it out!

Hi I just recently started The City of Magic. It is number 370 on the list.
Hi! I'm Elena. I'm a "rurbanite" who currently lives in Central AL. My green lifestyle blog, Life The Green Way, provides green tips for the everyday person that can also save money. You can also find current air quality information, reviews of eco-friendly products and my latest post, 2010 Green Gift Guide. I'm happy to have found a way to link up with other Alabama bloggers!
What a fun way to meet! I have been a mommy blogger for a while, but as the new year approaches, I have left my old blog behind to focus on my hobby of cooking & entertaining.
Stop by and say hello. I hope that I can inspire you!
Jennifer
I thought I had already linked up here but apparently I have not! Hope to make it out to another meet-up soon!
What an impressive group! The Community Foundation represents & serves the whole community, so what better place to link with than a community of bloggers, each one with a special view of this place we call home.
We're announcing something new on Jan. 13, which I look forward to sharing at the January meetup.
This is so cool. I never even thought about looking for a network of Alabama bloggers and saw the link on 'dust bunny hostage'. Looking forward to meeting all ya'll. I have started my second life after spending the first 2/3'd of my life as a medical clerk and professional crafter. Now having married for the first time, collecting SS, and giving up craft shows for online crafting malls, I am having a pretty good time and enjoy putting it on my blog.
Looking forward to 2011.
Mary

I love to blog, read other blogs, love to read about and do interior decorating, crocheting, quilting, misc.paper crafts, thrifting, repurposing furniture and travel. Hello Rachel!
I am also in Birmingham.
B3's Bargains and Books is the name of my blog, where I share my love of reading, freebies for Homeschool students(like my 3 children) and finding great deals. This past summer I started a local book club that children are welcome to attend. My youngest son, Daniel Clayton has a lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. I try to raise awareness and money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Alabama.
Hi, Rachel - I'm new to Alabama, and basically, that's the idea behind my blog. I'm looking forward to meeting some of my blogging kinfolk next week!

My name is Alli and my blog is called Sweet (New) Home, Alabama. I just moved to Mobile in August all the way from Miami, Florida. Needless to say, Mobile is a little different than what I am used to. The purpose of this blog is to share my new experiences in The South with my friends and family, all of which who have never been to Alabama! I hope you enjoy!

Hi,... I started my blog back in May and had no blogging experience whatsoever. I still don't have a lot but it is fun. Mine isn't centered around one certain thing or event, so it gets kind of random at times. Alabama football, supporting mom and pop stores, local events dominate what my blog is. Ans sometimes those random thoughts that pop in my head.
Hello. My name is Bo Williams, and I blog at BoWilliams.com. I am a technical writer in northern Alabama, and am a married father of two.
Looking forward to meeting other bloggers!
Susan @ Our Family Eats
I just added the link to my blog! I'm currently in Auburn (I've been here the last six years or so) and I am originally from the Birmingham area.
This is so great! I'm a blogger living in Montgomery with my husband and sweet 2 month old! Can't wait to meet all of you!
Hey Rachel,
I just stumbled upon your blog and it is wonderful! I recently moved to the Birmingham area, and I love reading/meeting/connecting with new people!
I am a photographer, and I have a photography blog... but I started a personal blog so that I could share our life & my point of view with our friends, family, and new people. I like to write and I love to take photos, and somethings are better suited for my personal blog. My musings on home decor, couponing, and our life is not really material for my photography blog. LOL!
I also read other's blogs daily. I just love seeing what other people do, think, etc... Such a great way to connect with others with similar interests. :)

Greetings and salutations to the denizens of Birmingham and the rest of Alabama! This is the inaugural post of The Birmingham Skews—Birmingham’s lone voice crying out in a night as black as wet newspaper ink against our awful hometown newspaper, The Birmingham News.
Do you remember when The News was worth reading? Do you remember when you could count on at least some good reporting from The News? I see a downward trajectory in their standards as of late. Is it just me?
Maybe The News needs a little medicine—someone to hold them accountable when they let their collective tongues wag, when they slip some salacious non sequitur into a story, when they make promises or accusations they can’t back up. That’s why we’re here.
Hi Rachel!
I grew up in Birmingham, but moved to Nashville TN after getting married. We just recently moved back to Birmingham, so now I guess I'm an Alabama blogger. I know I'm late to the party ... but I like to make an appearance! Glad to be back in AL.
Hi All,
My name's Clementine and I am moving back to Birmingham after living in Barcelona and Buenos Aires the last five years. I'm blogging about the journey back home.
I look forward to reading blogs set in Alabama. Setting is actually my favorite literary theme and I'm excited to read blogs about life and culture in Alabama.
Hi Rachel,
Not sure how I found this site but I can't wait to explore the blogs here!
I'm Patsy. I was born and grew up in Birmingham but I now live in Blount County. I write about life in the country, renovating my old rock house, and anything else that interests me over at The Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore.Blogspot. I also write about my artwork (primarily Birmingham scenes) at patsyblake.blogspot.
This is a great idea and thanks for putting it together.
Nice to meet y'all!! I'm a foodie in Helena.
(How am I not here already?!?)
Thanks for the wonderful recap of the Alabama Social Media Association event. It was great meeting you there...
Hi, my name is Brittny. I'm currently in Mobile, AL but thanks to my job I get to travel all over. My personal blog is here: www.brittnyjackson.com and my company blog is here: www.bandaidrecords.com. I'm so glad I gound this site.. I love connecting with other bloggers in this area.
Well, I am a little late getting here, so probably, no one will see this...Haha!
Anyway, Rachel, we met today at ALsocme event. I have a website with two themes. The first theme is a homeschool resource. I love to help new homeschoolers as well as share ideas with veterans. We have been homeschooling for 7 years now. My husband and I have been married for almost 16 years and have 4 beautiful children.
My second theme for my blog is helping families find their purpose, write down their 100 family values, their mission and vision statement and then I offer them some tools to pass that down to future generations. We want things for our family now, so why not be certain our family line knows all we want them to? So, to sum it up...Intentional parenting is what my site is about. I would love for people to follow it and get involved with me discovering ways to build our families into a team, the team it was created to be!
Hi! My name is Will, and I'm a third-generation dairy farmer from Lamar County.
With less than 70 operating dairy farms in a state of over 4.5 million people, it's not a reach to say that the average Alabamian doesn't have a good grasp on what daily dairy farm life is all about. I try to use my blog to share what we do in an easy-to-understand (and sometime entertaining...I hope) way. I try to include a fair dose of photographs and occasional videos of both our cows and our crops.
I hope you will check out my blog, and feel free to ask any questions you have about my family's dairy farm or about modern agriculture in general. Thanks, and have a "dairy" good day!
http://gilmerdairy.blogspot.com
Great idea! Happy to be a part of the AL bloggers!
Hi Rachel:
I'm Shermika and I am in Birmingham. I co-run a blog www.artblt.com that focuses on all things art: fashion, music, food, film, and more. Tamika and I are known as the ArtBelles and seek to showcase art in every form while building relationships. I look forward to connecting with you. Our twitter is @artblt and we are following Alabama Bloggers.
Hi Rachel, I'm excited to find a place to connect with Alabama bloggers. I began my blog as a way to keep in touch with family and friends "back home" when my family began traveling with my husbands job. We've settled down in North Alabama, but I'm hooked when it comes to blogging. I blog about family travel with and emphasis on field trips and educational travel since I also homeschool my three teenagers. I'm looking forward to interacting here on Alabama Bloggers! :)
I'm Tiffany Hauser of Lil' Red Bird BIG DEALS. I'm a SAHM in Birmingham, and quite a deal gossip. I'm new to blogging. I share Birmingham's "cheap, cheap" deals.
I'm excited to join this group. I hope to meet you all soon at the next meetup!
Hey, I hope I'm doing this right. As my wife and I began to enlist prayer warriors for my (mono-amniotic) twin girls...we began a blog in order to update and keep our prayer partners informed. Since starting our blog, so many have told us that they love to read our updates and that they have been encouraged by our faith. The funny thing is, we're learning to trust God like we've never trusted Him before as we depend on Him every day. God is showing us just how strong and mighty He really is. So with that my blogging career began. Our ultimate goal through our site is to bring glory to God's name as well as share our story with as many praying people and churches that we can.
Thanks for setting this up! I've been looking for other ways of finding Huntsville Blogs (and other Alabama ones, too!)
Just linked my blog. I am from Homewood, AL but I currently attend Auburn University. I am so glad to have found this!!
Hey Rachel! I'm Karla Khodanian. I'm not new to blogging, but recently months I have decided to get much more serious with it! I'm from the Madison/Huntsville area, but I spend most of my time in Birmingham because I'm sophomore at UAB majoring in Public Relations. I love all things creative and crafty, and hope to use my blog as a yet another outlet of my expression. I'd love to become more involved with Alabama Bloggers and AlSocMe!
You can follow me at my blog (http://www.casualbedlam.blogspot.com), find me on Facebook, or follow me on twitter (http://www.twitter.com/karlakhodanian).
I look forward to hearing more from fellow Alabama Bloggers soon!
I'm from Tuscumbia, and have a gardening blog around Border collies. I also show off some of my flowers. Since February I've been blogging for GRIT magazine as Rosedale Garden. Somehow the S got dropped from my local blog. They wanted my hooligans as I call my 3 and they had to take me with them.

Hi everyone! This is a great idea. I'm a blog junkie but didn't start my own until a few weeks ago. I live outside of Bham with my husband and 2 kids. My blog chronicles our daily lives: saving money, cooking, homeschooling, diy projects, Christian walk and everything in between.
Looking forward to reading and being read. But first I must write.
Hi Rachel, I'm Rebecca and I live in the Huntsville area and part of the new Rocket City Bloggers group getting started. I blog about faith and crafting. I'm looking forward to meeting and reading other Alabama bloggers.

Can't wait to connect with fellow bloggers!
Just found out about this. I have two book blogs. One for print and ebooks and one for audio books. I've linked both of them.
I'm Laura Ashlee. I'm twenty-four. I live in Locust Fork, but work at Robins & Morton in Homewood. I just graduated from Samford in May. I'm hoping to start grad school at Alabama in the next year or so. I guess that's all I have for an introduction.
I'm looking forward to meeting some of the nice bloggers in Alabama. I'm from Mobile and I live and garden in Citronelle. A small town in north Mobile. I love the country-small town feel in Citronelle.
I am so excited about this! I love Alabama and am so glad to unite with fellow bloggers!!!
This is a great site! I'll visit it regularly.
Hello everyone! This was a great idea. I co-founded a writing group that meets in Trussville once a month if anyone is interested. We have had some fantastic speakers. Check us out, Cahaba Christian Writers @ www.cahabachristianwriters.com. We have various workshops, which have included blogging. We are always looking for new speakers. I would like to welcome you to come visit us. I look forward to meeting some of you.
Hey, Rachel! I'm Rachel and I think that it is so cool that you have put this together! It is exactly the sort of thing that I have been looking for! I'm a photographer/documentarian and I mostly blog about Orange Beach, but since I haven't been there in a while I have been blogging about whatever part of Alabama that I have visited recently.
Hi, Rachel. I am Barb and I live in Phenix City. I have three blogs, but I post every day for Chattahoochee Valley Daily Photo. Great idea you had.
Hello fellow bloggers. I post my thoughts on language, usage and writing from a barstool in my kitchen/family room in Birmingham. My subject matter may sound deadly dull, but I work hard to make it amusing (if only to me. Hey, I don't want to bore myself). It's a solitary activity, so this is nice to have a gathering of loners here.
Hey Rachel! I'm Amie Beth. I live in the Birmingham area. I blog about my family (married, mother of four great kids), news items of the day, adoption, and character education. I currently work part-time for Cumulus Radio and as a public speaker. I stumbled on your site when I saw someone RT the info about your upcoming meeting. So excited that there is someplace on-line for fellow Alabama bloggers. Thanks for putting this site together. Hope I can get to one of your gatherings in the future.
Cool site; I am excited to find it. I added my business blog and a couple of Alabama travel-specific sites that I blog for. :)
Oh, man - I'm excited! What a great idea!! I only know of two other bloggers in my area (Dothan), but I'd love to meet more!! Our blog, Abide at Home, is dedicated to helping women deepen their relationship with God and thus enhance their family life and legacy! I am married to a great guy, Andy, who is a full-time youth pastor and have one precious young daughter.
This is a good idea. Just found this today. I live in the Anniston area and my blog is Young's Blog.
Has it really been two years since someone has added a comment here? Well I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kristin. I'm a Communications Professor in Huntsville. I write a Disney Tips blog called Tips from the Disney Diva. Just expanded and have added 18 additional writers (to date). Exciting times and fun to be in Alabama! tipsfromthedisneydiva.com
My name is Samir and I own the car and bike enthusiast web site Huntsville Car Scene.com. Every week I create event coverage for our vast number of our local events in the North Alabama area. It's like a e-publication for all the local gearheads. There's a calendar of events, a discussion forum, and over 100,000 photos from local events to look at almost all taken by me. :)
It would be very cool to have a get together to meet fellow bloggers! My uncle owns the Baymont Inn and Suites in Madison and I'm sure he'd let us use the meeting room.
This site is a great idea. I blog about healthy eating which is my passion. I hope you can add my site to your list! Thanks.
Hi! Just saw a retweet about the tornado posts and wanted to link up. I'm a SAHM with a 2.5 yr old and a 4 month old. Thanks for organizing!
I can't wait to read some these blogs. As for me, I was a wine salesman or a fine dining restaurant manager for the last ten or so years. I recently started a new career in real estate as restaurant hours dictate that you never see your child once they start school. I enjoy real estate, but I miss talking about wine and food. To that end: www.mightstainyourshirt.com where I can blather on about wine, food, meth apparently, and anything else that strikes me. I look forward to meeting you. You'll know me by my pleas for drupal technical help.
Hi! I'm Donna. I live in North Alabama and recently started a blog about our home-improvement adventures.
I would love to meet other decorater/DIY bloggers!
Hi! I've been on Alabama Bloggers before, but I was "locked out" of my original website. A Simple Life is now at www.belinda-asimplelife.blogspot.com. I still show a large number of referrals from Alabama Bloggers visiting the old website, and I knew they didn't know how to visit the new! Thanks for your help!
Adding my blog Brown Paper and Strings. Thanks!
Hello Everyone!
I am Erica and I live in a tiny tiny town in southwest Alabama and my family and I try to write The Gut Bucket Blog. Its all about our hunting experiences and raising our children to be stewards of the outdoors.
Please stop by, check us out, and leave a comment.
Hi Rachel !
My name is Jack and although I have been around a long time, I am new to blogging. I just published my first book on Kindle ebooks. It is a humorous look at growing up in the Sixties in Rural Alabama. Very light reading and only 20 pages. Hope everyone enjoys it and look forward to meeting people on here.
Have a Blessed Day !

I started my blog on New Year's Eve, 2009 - it's an odd mix of poetry, politics, and spirituality with periodic nods to Bob Dylan, whose song, "Not Dark Yet" inspired the title of my blog.
Just found your list; thank you for doing this, Rachel! I'm Nona and I own SocialK Communications in Huntsville. My blog covers social media and all things related to building brands and relationships.

Hi, I am Steven Stiefel. I am a professional photographer and adjunct professor of strategic communications. I am a single dad, Auburn grad/fan, and a creative writer with a progressive leaning. I create images for magazines, book covers, calendars, etc., so a lot of what I blog about are shoots I am doing or images I want to share. Just a head's up: I do shoot with a lot of models. I don't shoot anything tasteless, but I wouldn't want to offend anyone with images from a swimwear calendar, etc. So if you are easily offended, other blogs on here might be of greater interest.
I'm a father of three and husband since 1996. A chiropractor by trade, I try to expose the wonder of the human body and make an understanding of it more accessible to everyone. I also talk about things related restoring and maintaining a healthy life.
I live and practice in North Shelby Co.
Hi! I've been blogging for what seems like forever and just found you guys! My name is Anita and my blog is about my life as a marketing professional, my hobbies (theatre, choir, knitting, reading and writing) and my life as a wife and new mom on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. Nice to meet everyone!
I forgot the questions :( But here's what I do remember:
My name is Rick Watson
I live with my wife of almost 40 years in Empire.
We love the beach, the Southside of Birmingham,
Most of the state parks, and our little farm.
I blog daily. The only time I've missed since December of 2005 was when the storms of April 27th and a storm in March of this year, blew our lights to Georgia.
My blog, Life 101 is like a daily journal, but I use that as an idea generator for the columns I write for various newspapers in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia.
I'm a member of Alabama Media Professionals, and the Alabama Writer's Conclave.
I won three awards this year in the Alabama Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest for stories I wrote for the Starnes Publications in Birmingham.
My wife Jilda and I are also singer songwriters. We play festivals and coffeehouses around the south.
Hey, y'all! I found this site via Twitter. I blog over at RunningSouthern.com. I use my blog to mostly talk about my hobby of running and eating, but I also blog about life with my husband of 4 years, our 4 dogs, and all that we do. We live in a suburb of Birmingham.
Foodie Blogger here in the Shoals Area, currently working on The Shoals Barbecue Trail. Found this Alabama Bloogers on Urbanspoon. Check us out at The Brown Bag Review (dot) com. I love to eat and tell others about the quality of the food and service.
I don't really have an elevator speech prepared. Here goes. The blog started as a column for a horse magazine. The horse did not work out. I kept writing. So, it's a niche blog, but I drag in whatever life events I can squeeze to fit.
I just came across this site the other day. I am new to AL (from SC by way of California) and am enjoying it thus far...I think it'll be home for a while as my hubby just accepted a Professorship at UAB and my little girl (almost 1 yr) will grow up nicely here :). I myself am a writer/consultant and lover of all things fashion; but in particular fashion law. I can go on and on but I'll shorten things up by saying I am SO excited to have found you all and can't wait to meet & greet! Happy Writin' Everyone!!
Hey,
Glad to find ya'll.
This is a great idea!
I am in Birmingham. I blog on random thoughts on prayer mainly. I have a book which is coming out in about 6 months on prayer.

Hello! I am a truck driver from Gadsden, who has recently dipped into the world of the blog. Looking forward to talking/meeting you all, and hopefully learn more about all of this. I am married, with 3 kids (almost all grown), and the sweetest granddaughter (16 month) God could ever bless me with. Love my church, and Love spreading the Gospel, even if only just a smile and "God Bless You." My hope in this blog is to hopefully show a world many have not seen, and share what I feel the Lord is sharing with me. Have a Great Day!
Hi All! My name is Libby and I have recently started a lifestyle and events blog for the city of Decatur in North Alabama (About Town). I'm a freelance writer and wife and mom to a 2-year-old little boy. I LOVE blogging! So happy to be a part of a group who share the same passion.
Hiya. I'm Julie Watters and an aspiring blogger who wants to write and share information effectively for my more-than-a-business: Happy FitCamper. I also am an aspiring "real writer"/scaredy cat who is trying to come out of my hiding place and write my more gutsy and gritty stuff at my other blog: AuthenticityCity.
My third blog is indicative of my scaredy cat-ness, and where I test out bold ideas in a cryptic poem-like form: paper crumb trails. I excited to learn from everyone here.
I'm looking forward to reading some of these amazing blogs. Glad there is a good local blogging group.
Hi Rachel,

Hello! I look forward to exploring other blogs from awesome Alabama bloggers!
Hi, I have lived in Alabama for over twenty years now and am still finding new places to explore all the time. As a homeschooling mom I did a lot of exploring with my three kids. Now that two of them are in college I have even more time for exploring. I love taking photos and sharing the places that I find so beautiful and interesting.
